“Strengthen me”
My soul is weary with sorrow; strengthen me according to Your word. Psalm 119:28
Verse reflections: I am exhausted, I am reduced to tears on some days. My soul is weary with sorrow because I have tried so hard to lose weight, to eat healthy and still I fail. This verse reminds us of the power of His word. When we are weary from the sorrows of this world, our failures, we simply have to turn to His word. He will strengthen us according to the power in His word. These daily verses we are reading may seem like a minor action step but each verse has power to strengthen us. We try diets, we try writing down what we eat, we try avoiding foods, we try prepackaged foods, we try fasting, salads… and while we yield temporary success, we always revert back to previous weights because we try an unattainable solution. Our soul becomes weary. We give us and choose to eat what we want to eat. We pour sugars and processed foods into our bodies because they make us temporarily happy but adds no nutritional value. We have to change our lifestyles, not indulge in a temporary solution. God has given us the strength to choose His lifestyle, His foods. But we have to read His word, we have to pull the strength from His word into our souls so that we make the choices become a permanent part of our life.
Prayer: God, You have taught us to depend on You, on Your word. You promise us in this verse that You will strengthen us according to all of these verses You are giving us to read each day. Thank You! You are amazing. You have given us verse after verse that instill power in us. We can do this, no matter how hard it is. I am frustrated because this is truly a daily struggle. My soul feels sorrow every time I make the wrong choice. And yet I have to daily read Your verses to give me strength to face another day of choices. Satan knows my Achilles heel and every day I find an excuse to eat foods that are not good for me. Every day I thank You, Father for these verses that give me a new perspective, a new strength. I am changing slowly but I know I am changing. Thank You for infusing me with Your strength from Your word. This verse summarizes my journey so well. I get frustrated, sorrowful and I have to turn to Your word to get strength. I have found nothing else that works for me. Thank You for what Your word does for this journey. Today You gave me strength in Your word. I love You. We are going to eat Your foods today.
