“He increases your power”

He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Isaiah 40:29

Verse Reflections: We have to claim the strength that God gives on the days that we are frustrated and tired. He promises us in this verse that our journey will be successful and He will give us the power that we need even in our weakness. Time and time again I depended on my own strength to eat healthy or just to lose weight, forget eating healthy. Only after I became weary of all these crazy options did He give me the strength to move forward on the journey of mental and physical health. I had to ask Him to increase my power against temptation. I do not have the power to say no to some foods. I do not have the power to eat one serving of some foods. I am weak. I have to depend on God to increase my power. I have to depend on God to give me the strength that I reach for because I am weary to the bone of the roller coaster rides of gaining a pound, losing a pound, gaining a pound, losing two, gaining two pounds, losing one. I can’t even get on the scales daily or even weekly any more because I am so tired of the miniscule changes that I see. I finally have the strength to make this a lifestyle and not a lifescale. I am going to celebrate my body right now, today and choose to feed it healthy God foods. I know I am making the right decisions and God will reward my decisions through health first and weight changes second. I have the power to invest in my future and I have the strength to know I am worth the changes to my lifestyle. This verse reminds me that I have the strength and the power to change to God foods.

Prayer:  Father, thank You for restoring my strength. I am weary. I am weak. When I feel tired, overwhelmed, or unable to carry on, remind me that Your strength is made perfect in my weakness. All I have to do is depend on You to pick up my pieces. I have to acknowledge that is a journey and I do have the strength and the power to invest in my health. Thank You for being the source of my strength, especially in times of weariness. Your word promises that You give power to the weak and renew the strength to the weary. I come before You now, trusting in that promise. Fill me with Your power and refresh my spirit. Help me to rely not on my own abilities, but on Your limitless might, knowing that You will sustain me. Thank You for lifting me up when I am low and for always being my refuge and strength. You have chosen, created and perfected beautiful foods that I love. Thank You for giving me the strength to choose them today and every day.

Did you know?  The American Heart Association recommends eating no more than 6 teaspoons a day for women and 9 teaspoons a day for men.  That is one large chocolate chip cookie and one low-fat yogurt!
