“Speak the very words”

If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory and power for ever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 4:11

Verse Reflections: Speaking the words of God is power. Each verse that He reveals to us through His word IS power. He tells us that His word, the scriptures are the only offensive weapon we have against the wiles of the devil. The very words of God should be close to our tongue and in our hearts. This includes the words we speak to ourselves. Let’s make a pact today to speak to ourselves as our loving God would speak to us. Compliment yourself. Speak words of love to yourself. God is love. Start your positive speaking with Yourself and then spread the same to others. After we have filled ourselves with affirmation and love from Christ let’s look for ways to serve others and take our minds off of ourselves. It is always amazing how much happier I am when I am not thinking of myself and I stay busy. God will give us the strength to serve in all the ways He has called us to serve. Whatever we do, we need to look for ways God may be praised. We will give Him all the glory when we use His strength to choose the God foods that He has called us to eat.

Prayer: As I write, may the words I write be Your words, the very words of God. I so want to serve You Father but I have to have Your strength in order to do so. When I speak, Father let the words reflect Your very words. Lord, so often, the words I speak to myself are not Your words. Change the words I speak to myself first. Help me to compliment myself instead of criticizing the way I look in clothes (or without). Then allow me to speak the very words of Yours to others. I believe that we are ruining our self-perceptions in the United States. We think we should look like a 13-18 year old and that is ridiculous. Give me the scripture, Your very words, in my heart to share with others because nothing I can say will say it better than Your words spoken out loud. Allow me to serve others as they need to be served. Should I prepare God food for parties? Should I cook healthy foods at home? Should I spend my time writing these devotions so that I hear Your words and pass them own to others? Open the eyes of my heart and the ears of mind so that I can serve You to my fullest potential. Allow me to be healthy first and lose down to a healthy weight so that I can witness to others through their recognition of my “success” due to the strength You provide.
