Stored up goodness

How great is Your goodness, which You have stored up for those that fear You, which You bestow in the sight of men on those that take refuge in You. Psalm 31:19

Verse Reflections:  We have an infinite silo full of goodness just waiting for us to access. God has this goodness stored up for us. We know that He does not want us to abuse our bodies with unhealthy fat. We know that He does not want us to inflame our joints by eating Carbugers (Sugar and carbohydrates). We know that He wants us to be healthy and at a healthy weight. Choose His goodness. However, notice that we have to take refuge in Him. This is easy for me, I have to depend on Him because I know I do not have the strength to face this journey on my own.  And we must have a deep respect, reverence and awe for God’s power and authority. Refuge is “being safe or sheltered from pursuit, danger or trouble”. Yes, I am being pursued by a horrible addiction to eating carbugers, I am being pursued by an addiction to eating too much food. I have to be taken out of this dangerous situation. Do not be fooled into thinking that this is not a war, not dangerous. You are destroying Your body when You eat the wrong foods. You are limiting Your health, Your time on earth. We have to take refuge in Christ. He will build a hedge of protection around You. However, You have to totally trust that the goodness that is stored up for you is accessible and available. So often we think it is only available for others. Don’t fool yourself that others have it easier. Everyone has a tough journey. Our journey is choosing to eat healthy and honestly it is “hard as hell” which is the strongest earthly phrase I can think of so don’t judge me literally. It is not going to be easy. Just as alcoholics or drug addicts have to fight not drinking daily, so we have to fight to make healthy choices daily. It will not be easy but we can do it when we take refuge in Christ. Today choose to indulge in God’s goodness, His healthy foods.

Prayer:  Father, I envision the silos that surround us when we drive the country roads. I imagine Your goodness packed inside, sliding down the chute into our bodies. I know that I have to live in awe of You, respect Your power, live in reverence and fear of You. And yet, I need to take that awe and respect and snuggle up under Your wings and take refuge in You. I was addicted to carbugers and now I throw that addiction under Your feet so that You can stomp on it and eliminate the power. Father, You are almighty, all powerful. I know You can protect me from the power of the enemy and processed foods are my enemy. I eat processed or fried foods and I am starving for more. I eat Your foods and I feel full. I definitely suffer from addiction reactions because my body reacts to those foods and creates cravings. I accept Your goodness that You have stored up for me. I accept Your refuge and protection today and every day. I will know beyond a shadow of a doubt that Your power exceeds any temptation that I face I just have to access it, believe in it and accept it.  Thank You Father for this goodness and protection that exceeds anything I have every experienced. Today, we are going to eat healthy foods together as I snuggle in Your refuge away from the power of this world.  Have a great day, let’s walk it together.
