Mighty to save

The Lord Your God is with You, He is mighty to save. He will delight in you, He will quiet You with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing. Zephaniah 3:17

Verse Reflections: Hallelujah. God is mighty to save. This entire verse is freaking awesome. Christ can save us from our food addictions with His mighty power. He will save us. He will take our anxieties; our cravings and He will quiet us with His love. Close your eyes for a second, breathe in, and allow His love to flood over You. Next time those food cravings haunt you, repeat this exercise. Close your eyes, breathe in, and allow His love to flood over You. Feel your anxieties dissipate and watch your cravings disappear. Wherever you are, in the grocery store, at work, in the drive through, in a restaurant breathe in His mighty power. God, and only God, has the might to save us from our overeating, our unhealthy choices. Only God has the power to protect us from the foods we crave to feed our anxiety, sadness or joy. He can save you from feeding your emotions. He will quiet our emotions and send peace. And He doesn’t stop there. He will delight in our success. Imagine celebrating with God before and after each meal. Listen to His voice, He will sing with joy as He rejoices over our successes. I just smile at this imagery. God and angels singing and celebrating over the fact that I chose healthy foods today. Quit looking at tomorrow. All we have to imagine is today. Don’t keep reaching for 10 pounds, 20 pounds, 30 pounds. Just focus on making healthy choices today. 2.5 pounds eliminates 10 pounds of pressure off your joints. Celebrate the little milestones with God. He is singing in joy over your success today. He is mighty and will save us from ourselves and the temptations that will face us today.

Prayer: Father, I need Your mighty power to save. I need to know that You will save me, that You are with me. I know You have powers that I cannot begin to fathom. You have to be mighty to save me. I am hopeless, powerless on my own. Your words always amaze me. You give me strength and beautiful imagery that I have never thought of before. I love the fact that You will quiet me with Your love. I have literally stood in the grocery store with a war raging inside of me as I battle on the potato chip aisle trying to convince myself not to buy the chips I am craving. Or I stand in front of the sweets, ice cream willing myself not to purchase the products. God, next time this happens, I am going to stop, breathe and let You quiet me with Your love as You promise in this verse. I can already feel my battling spirit calming with this verse. But You don’t stop there. In Your wisdom, You promise me that You will delight in me and sing over me. I want You to celebrate tonight with the angels that Your mighty power saved me from myself and we made the healthy choices that You have created for us. Today we are going to choose God foods and after each meal we are going to sing in celebration. I cannot thank You enough for Your word that changes my spirit and my life every time I read it.  I love You.
