Verse Reflections: There is no doubt that I cannot be confident in my own abilities to lose weight. Success can only come from God, I have failed too many times. Weight loss can feel like a daunting task. We may start out strong, full of determination, only to find ourselves discouraged when progress is slow or setbacks happen. In moments like these, it’s easy to feel that we don’t have what it takes. But God reminds us in 2 Corinthians that our competence and confidence come not from our own strength but from Him.
This verse encourages us to recognize that God is our source. He is the one who equips us with the discipline, perseverance, and courage needed to walk through this journey. When we rely solely on our own abilities, it’s natural to feel weak or inadequate. But with God, we are able to stick with this journey of eating God foods and filling our bodies with the foods He created. He meets us right where we are, filling the gaps we can’t fill on our own.
Our confidence doesn’t come from a perfect diet plan or a flawless exercise routine; it comes from knowing that God is with us. As we lean into His strength, we’re reminded that He is invested in our well-being. We don’t need to be perfect to please Him; we simply need to trust that He is leading us forward, one step at a time.
So, as you work towards your health goals, remember that your strength and ability are gifts from God. Even when things get challenging, you can have confidence in Him. Let His love and strength empower you each day. You will change your habits, even slowly, one day, one meal, one change at a time.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for being my source of strength and confidence. Help me to rely on You in my journey to better health. I know that I have to depend on You to be my strength. Remind me that my ability comes from You and that I don’t need to do this on my own. Give me the perseverance and courage to keep going even when I do not see much difference in the scales. I know that I am making changes. I know that I have changed eliminate physical compulsions to eat. Now I have to work on my mental compulsions in response to my environment. Take my hand and give me the confidence I need to make the next serious changes in my life, in my eating. I am not competent on my own to choose Your foods every meal. Give me the confidence in our relationship, in Your power to just do this. This verse is a beautiful reminder that my strength and competence doesn’t have to come from me. You can guide me, support me, in every step of this journey. Today, I will rely on Your competence as I choose God foods. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
