This is my prayer: That your love abound more and more, with knowledge and depth of insight. Philippians 1:9
Verse Reflections: I love the beginning of this verse praying that our love abound (to be available in large number or prevalent). In our journey to eat healthy, our love needs to abound for ourselves as well as God and others. So often, we fail to extend to ourselves the same love we extend to Christ. When we approach weight loss and healthy eating, it’s easy to focus on the physical aspects—calories, carbs, scales, and steps. But there’s a deeper journey here, one that calls for us to love ourselves as we grow in knowledge and insight. We will have failures and set backs but as long as we are growing forward, we need to extend grace and love. This verse reminds us that God’s desire is for us to grow in love through wisdom and discernment, and this applies to every area of our lives, including how we care for our bodies.
Weight loss and healthy eating are not about restricting or punishing ourselves but about loving the body God has given us and treating it with respect. This is the journey toward aligning our choices with wisdom and using the deep insights that scripture gives us. Wisdom teaches us that food is a gift meant to nourish and sustain us, not a tool for temporary comfort or reward. Insight reminds us that each choice is an opportunity to glorify God through self-care and discipline using His strength and guidance, not our own.
As we pursue health, let’s invite God’s love and wisdom into every decision, from the meals we prepare to the exercise routines we adopt. With each choice, let’s pray that our love for God, for ourselves, and for those around us will abound in knowledge and depth of insight. May our actions reflect that love—not perfection, but a consistent desire to care for our bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit. Today let us choose God foods, natural foods.
Prayer
Lord, help me to grow in wisdom and love as I make choices for my health. Grow my love for myself. I often extend love and lack of judgement to others but I criticize and loathe elements about myself. Forgive me. Reach Your grace down into my soul and allow me to abound in love for You, myself and others. May my decisions today and every day be guided by insight, not by fleeting desires or quick fixes. Every insight I gain from Your word allows me to be stronger in my choices. Let me internalize that insight so that Your wisdom, Your teachings become me. Not a part of me but all of me. Let my journey to a healthier life reflect Your love and wisdom, so that I may honor You in all I do. Today I am going to abound in good choices, and love. Love You Father
