“Peace”

The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace. Psalms 29:11

Verse Reflections: And again, God promises to give us strength. He reminds us over and over that we are weak. We are helpless. Every day we must come to Him and lay our weakness at His feet. So many times, our overeating is a response to stress, emotional unrest of a lack of impulse control. God provides us the strength we need to overcome each one of these challenges. This verse reminds us that when we depend on His strength He blesses us with peace. The peace that God blesses us with can calm the inner turmoil or anxiety that often leads to unhealthy eating habits. Hallelujah. God be praised. We can start our day with peace, knowing that He has given us the power to change the trajectory we are on. We get to change! We get to make choices that are beyond our abilities. God can eliminate the anxiety that creates cravings. God can eliminate any depression we carry forward. God can eliminate our unrest. God can bless us with peace that passes understanding. We can claim strength and peace, two characteristics that will change our lives. When we realize that we are powerless than we get to depend totally on God. When we depend totally on God, we admit that we need His help to change. Today we are going to depend on His strength to choose His foods.

Prayer:  Thank You for the gift of Your word and the strength You provide to me and all who seek You. As I reflect on this verse, I am reminded that You give strength to Your people and bless us with peace. Lord, help me to lean on Your strength when I face the temptation to overeat. In my moments of weakness today, remind me that I don’t have to rely on my own power, but on Yours. Let Your peace calm the cravings that arise from stress or emotions. Grant me the wisdom and power to honor my body as Your temple, nourishing it in a way that pleases You. Fill me with a peace that surpasses understanding, so that I may find contentment in You, rather than in foods. May Your strength sustain me today and may Your peace guide my actions as I strive to live a balanced, healthy life for Your glory. Today I will use the strength that You give to choose God foods.
