“Seek God continually”
Seek the Lord and His strength, seek His presence continually! I Chronicles 16:11
Verse reflections: If we seek the Lord’s strength and stay close to Him every day our journey to eating healthy will become easier. The word “Lord” means someone having power and influence over, a ruler. His power, His strength is beyond anything we can imagine. We struggle with temptations that He has already overcome. But there are two keys to unlock this power revealed in this verse: We must seek His strength and seek His presence continually. The minute I become mired in this world I start craving foods that are not good for me. When I keep God as my ruler, my master I am able to choose the foods that He created. When I start my day out with His word, my power is multiplied. I do not understand it. I can’t explain it but He literally takes my small, feeble abilities to turn down processed foods and He multiplies it a hundred fold. I have fought food temptations for decades and finding these verses has changed my life. I am able to sprinkle God juice on my day first thing in the morning and seek His strength and His presence. It changes the dynamic of my day, it changes the foods that I crave. I am able to make small and sometimes huge changes in my eating habits.
Prayer: Father I come to You today to seek Your strength. My strength is not sufficient. My strength fails me time and time again. This verse reminds me that I must continually seek Your strength. It actually gives me reassurance because I realize that this life is not easy for any of us, we must all seek You continuously. We can so easily have our attention taken away by the bright shiny things in this world and fail to seek Your presence. God, wrap me tightly and keep this journey continuous. I know I am successful in eating Your foods when I stay close to You. I know I am successful in staying positive no matter what happens in life when I seek Your strength and I live in Your presence. There is a difference in how I perceive events, temptations, relationships and life when I am living in Your presence. Thank You for this verse that reminds me daily I must seek You and depend on Your strength not my own. Let’s be strong together today and seek out Your foods one day at a time and soon this journey with You will become continuous. I love You.
Did you know? The more anger and hostility that stress produces in you, the higher (and worse) your LDL and triglyceride levels tend to be. Stress encourages the body to produce more energy in the form of metabolic fuels, which cause the liver to produce and secrete more of the bad cholesterol, LDL. (Everyday Health)
