Verse Reflections: God gives us victory. On the days when I do not want to eat healthy foods, it brings me great comfort to know that God will fight for me. He will give me victory over my cravings. He promises us in this verse that He is the one who goes with us to fight for us! We can have victory over bad eating habits. Not tomorrow, not next week, not next year. Today! God promises us here that He will go WITH us to fight against this enemy we have been fighting. Every person on earth has an Achilles heel, an area of vulnerability. Overeating and not making healthy choices is our “enemy”. This verses promises that God will give us victory. Pick yourself off the ground. Don’t give into your years of “failure” of roller coaster rides. Change your self-image to one of victory. God is going with you because you are asking Him to every day as you read these verses that will change your life. God will go with you to fight against your enemy. God will fight for you to give you victory. I almost feel the heaviness lift from my shoulders as I feel God’s spirit take some of the burden off of me to be successful in this journey. I have proven that I am powerless against this enemy of overeating, of eating the wrong foods. Today I am counting on God to go with me. I am counting on Him to fight for me even when I can’t fight for myself. We can do this today. We can absolutely, unequivocally, without a doubt change our lives and claim victory. Today we will be victorious in eating God foods, in having only one serving. In eating nutritious foods that will make us think clearly, reduce inflammation and change our health. God is good and He is a powerful friend, fight the battle with us.
Prayer: God, I come to You with relief knowing You will fight for me, that You will go with me. I am tired. I am exhausted from trying to “will” myself into a successful journey and relationship with food. My enemy is my weakness for unhealthy foods that taste good. Please change this to emphasizing a victory because we will choose healthy foods. I love that You also allow me the grace to eat one non-God food a day so that I do not feel totally deprived. I think this grace will make a difference in allowing me to live this way, to be victorious for the rest of my life. Thank you for teaching me how to fight this fight. I tend to go to extreme options that I cannot maintain even though the short term successes are real. Thank You for teaching me to eat Your foods, enjoy Your foods while allowing myself a quick splurge each day. I already feel more victorious knowing I can fight with You by my side. God… go with me today, fight for me. Today we will eat Your glorious foods and change our lives with You by our side.
