For this God is our God for ever and ever

For this God is our God for ever and ever, He will be our guide even unto the end. Psalm 48:14

Verse Reflections: So often we look at weight loss, of eating healthy as a temporary commitment. We will make certain choices until our weight is down which is why we ride the roller coaster of weight loss so often through the years. When we think about embarking on a journey to better health, whether it’s losing weight, eating more nutritiously, or making lifestyle changes, it can feel overwhelming. We often look at the road ahead and see challenges: cravings to resist, time to set aside for exercise, and moments of discouragement when progress feels slow. But as believers, we’re reminded in Psalm 48:14 that we are not alone. God is our guide, walking with us every step of the way. God is beside us for ever and ever. He will be our guide even until the end. Choosing healthy foods is a life time commitment, a daily worship of Christ.

This verse offers a powerful truth: God is not only our guide in spiritual matters but also in every aspect of our lives. That includes our physical health. He created our bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19), and caring for them honors Him. When we choose to eat wholesome, nourishing foods, we are showing gratitude for the gift of life and the phenomenal body He has given us. When we exercise, we are stewarding the body He entrusted to us. And when we struggle—because we all do—we can turn to Him for strength.

God promises to guide us, not just in the easy moments but “even unto the end.” That means He is with you when the temptations come, when the scale doesn’t move, or when you feel like giving up. His presence is steady and unchanging.

Here are three steps to lean on God as you walk this journey:

  1. Pray for Guidance: Before making food choices or starting a workout, ask God for wisdom and strength. Invite Him into the process.
  2. Seek His Word for Encouragement: Meditate on verses like Psalm 48:14 to remind yourself that He is your constant guide. Scriptures can renew your mind and give you hope.
  3. Celebrate Small Victories with Gratitude: Every healthy choice is a step forward. Thank God for guiding you in even the smallest decisions.

Remember, this isn’t just about reaching a number on a scale. It’s about aligning your actions with God’s desire for you to live a full, abundant life (John 10:10). Let Him be your guide, for He is faithful to lead you to the health and vitality He intends for you. Today we will choose God food and celebrate our small victories.

Prayer:
Father, thank You for being my guide, not only in my spiritual journey but in every area of my life. I desperately need Your guidance. Every night I go to bed convinced that You and I will rock tomorrow. And yet, I know that TODAY is the only day that will change my life. Help me to make the choices today that honor You and care for the body You’ve given me. When I feel a compulsion, weak or discouraged, remind me of Your constant presence and Your promise to guide me. I will trust You to lead me, step by step, TODAY as I strive to live a healthier, more vibrant life for Your glory. We can do this God. I have my menu for today all planned out. Be my guide to eat it on time and not waiver.  I love You. Thank You for all the wonderful foods You have created.
