Rescued
Because he loves me, says the Lord, “I will rescue him, I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.” Psalm 91:14
Verse Reflections: Again and again God promises us that He will rescue us. He will protect us. And yet, part of this verse is that we love the Lord and we acknowledge His name. We have to always put Him first so that we give Him the power and the opportunity to rescue us. We have to lean on Him. Our health matters to God because we matter to Him. He created these amazing bodies, calling them the temple of the Holy Spirit (I Corinthians 6:19-20). When we honor our bodies by making healthy choices, we honor God who loves us deeply. This verse reminds us that His love is active. He promises to rescue us when we acknowledge Him in our journey to better health. Daily, we have to battle the pull of habits and cravings. And yet, we have the promise in Psalm 91:14 giving us hope. God offers us strength to overcome these struggles when we call on Him. He rescues us, not by removing the temptations but by empowering us to resist it. We also have to battle being paralyzed by fear and self-doubt. What if we fail again? What if it is too hard? God promises us protection. He will walk alongside us, shielding us from lies that convince us that we cannot be successful in making healthy choices. We will intentionally love God and acknowledge the power in His name. This power will rescue us from temptation and allow us to choose God foods today and every day.
Prayer: Father, You have often multiplied my prayers. I ask that You multiply Your power today and rescue me from decades of overeating. I do love You. You are my sunshine every morning when I wake up and the beat in my heart that skips when I see a sunset or sunrise. I acknowledge the power in Your name. Thank you for loving me and walking with me as a strive to care for my body. I know I need Your help to choose God foods, make healthy choices and stay committed to this journey. Rescue me from temptations and protect me from discouragement. Help me to remember that You are my strength and guide. Thank You for loving me just as I am and for helping me become all that You have created me to be in Jesus’ powerful, amazing name. We are going to make a great team today. I love You. Amen
