You are new

Therefore, if any man be in Christ, He is a new creature; old things are passed away; behold all things have become new. II Corinthians 5:17

Verse reflections: We have to claim this verse if we are going to embrace change. We have to become new and not allow our old habits to take over. We can slip back into our old habits before we realize it is happening,. We fill our shopping carts with foods we don’t need. We order bread and pasta and desserts before we realize that we have just passed the allowed enough processed foods for three to five days into one day. We have to remember that we are in Christ and He created natural foods for us to eat. We have to remember that we are a new creature and we should not eat the foods we used to eat. We have to allow the old habits to disappear. I have to admit that I tend to bring my “old things” back because I have defined my joys, celebrated my accomplishments, drowned my sadnesses with food for so long that these habits have become a part of my identity. I need to remind myself that I am no longer defined by these actions. We must allow myself and all things to become new. We must associate our good days and our bad days, our ups and our downs with something other than unhealthy foods. We have to find new foods that are healthy to look forward to. We have to spread our wings and become new creatures as we change our eating habits.

Prayers: Lord, change me. Change me into a new creature. Take my old habits and make them into new habits. You are going to have to recreate me with Your power. I am still floundering in my old habits. I need You to take my hand and make sure I remain in You. If I become separated from You I will never change my abilities to choose healthy foods over unhealthy foods. I have to depend on You from the bottom of my heart to the top of my head. I cannot make the change on my own. You have to be the power behind this change. I am still the caterpillar stuck as a chrysalis inside a cocoon. I have worked hard to weave the cocoon that will encase me while I change but I cannot find my way to maturity that will allow me to cut my way out and dry the beautiful new wings that will define me as this new creature. God, You are my Lord and only You can create this beauty. Only You can make the difference that will allow the old things to pass away. Today, allow me to behold the new creature. I love You and I am ready to emerge this new being that is not dependent on habits from the past. Today we are going to choose God foods and change into a new, beautiful creature.
