Verse Reflections: And this verse is the very foundation we are building our new lives on. Jesus Christ has told us how to eat. We all know how to eat. We all know what to eat. He has given us the wisdom and the right ways of eating. Sanctification is the very act of being freed from sin or purified. Breathe it in. Because of Christ Jesus we have been freed from our unhealthy eating habits. Sin is such a big word but it simply means any action, feeling, or thought that goes against God’s standards.
God’s wisdom teaches us to eat natural foods, to eat the foods that He created- God foods. If we use this wisdom we will be freed from our unhealthy eating habits. We will be redeemed or delivered from sin and its consequences. There are so many consequences from eating unhealthy foods. The average person in the U.S. eats 17 teaspoons of sugar (healthline). Carbugars (carbs and sugars) lead to weight gain, heart disease, inflammation, diabetes, blood pressure issues, acne, depression, skin aging, and issues with your liver. We know what to do, so why do we choose to ignore this wisdom over and over?
Christ is also our sanctification, transforming us from the inside out. Eating healthy and taking care of our bodies isn’t just about weight loss—it’s about becoming more like Him in every area of our lives. Each healthy choice is a small act of worship, a step toward stewarding the body He’s given us. It is time to be sanctified!
Finally, Christ is our redemption. When we fall short—when we overindulge, skip a workout, or let discouragement set in—we can turn to Him. His grace picks us up, dusts us off, and sets us back on the path of growth. He redeems our efforts and strengthens us to keep going.
Prayer: Father, you gave me the wisdom, the knowledge of how to lose weight and become healthy, years ago. I need you to transform me, to sanctify me. I know I am redeemed, you have delivered me from my past failures but I have so much further to go. I am throwing my hands up to You in surrender. I am powerless. I am without hope on my own. I need Your guidance, your continued wisdom, sanctification and redemption. I know all of this will lead me to right-ness. I know with all of these beautiful Christ centered characteristics, we will change. Lord, thank You for being my wisdom, my righteousness, my sanctification, and my redemption. I know I can’t make this journey on my own, but with You, all things are possible. Help me to make choices that reflect Your wisdom and honor the body You’ve given me. When I stumble, remind me of Your grace and redemption, and give me the strength to start again. Thank You for walking with me every step of the way as we choose God foods. One meal, one day at a time.
