Verse Reflections: Ah, the perfect verse to follow yesterday’s devotion. Now that we have become free from sin, from choosing unhealthy foods. We can now start showing the fruits, the weight loss, the changes in our body. We will be set apart in holiness. We cannot be set apart without God’s power, without being a servant to God. We know that all of our right choices continue to build our relationship with God and lead us to everlasting life. And yet, the right choices here on earth also give us better lives here on earth? Why do we add pounds to our bodies that destroy the bones, destroy our joints, destroy our liver, destroy our pancreas, cause inflammation and pain? We put a car on a frame that is built for a tricycle and then we pray to God to “fix” our issues. He has made us free from the power of sin. So quit sinning. Sin is just breaking from the will of God. He does not want us destroying our bodies. Do you want a healthier body? Do you want to lose weight? Do you want the fruit of holiness? You KNOW what to do. In Christ, we are no longer slaves to sin but have been set free to bear fruit in holiness. This freedom transforms how we approach every aspect of life—including how we care for our bodies.
Unhealthy habits like overeating, emotional eating, or neglecting self-care often stem from patterns of sin—seeking comfort, control, or escape in food instead of in God. But through Christ, we are no longer bound by these old ways. As His servants, we are empowered to walk in the Spirit, choosing habits that reflect His holiness. Eating healthy and pursuing weight loss can bear fruit unto holiness when done with the right heart. Instead of striving for worldly ideals, we honor God by stewarding our bodies well, recognizing them as temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). Every healthy choice becomes an act of worship, and every step forward reflects the freedom we have in Christ. As we lean into this journey with a focus on serving God, we are reminded of the ultimate goal: not just a healthy body but a life of holiness that leads to everlasting life in Him.
We are going to eat the foods that God created and continue to move to a life of holiness in Him.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for setting me free from sin and calling me to bear fruit in holiness. I confess the ways I have allowed unhealthy habits to take control, and I surrender them to You. Help me to care for my body as an act of worship, and remind me that my ultimate goal is to glorify You in all I do. Guide me on this journey, and let the fruit of my choices reflect the freedom I have in Christ. I want to become Your full and total servant and I know in servitude to You and not rules or diets I will have power. I am ready to bear fruit. I can’t lose weight or be healthy without fully serving You, surrendering to You. I know I live with short sightedness. I want to look good in clothes… but what I need to be concentrating on in being set apart in holiness and getting ready for living the eternal life that You have prepared for us. Change me. Set me free. I surrender to Your leadership. Let’s eat the food You created. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
