Just do the thing
And why do you call me Lord, Lord and do not do the things which I say? Luke 6:46
Verse Reflections: This verse reminds me of John 13:17. It is time we just “do the things” God has told us to do. We cannot legitimately call him Lord (our master) if we are not following His guidance. Every time we say our prayers we are worshipping Him and then we turn around and pour sugar and carbs into our body essentially telling Him we are ignoring His Lordship. We want to say all the pretty words and have Him work His magic in our lives but when it comes down to sacrificing and making the right choices we refuse to go the extra mile. It is past time for us to make the changes that truly make Him the Lord of our lives. This verse challenges us to examine whether our actions align with our words. We can pray all day for strength, ask for discipline, or seek health in our bodies but then we fail to follow through and use the strength that He has already given us. We have to forget our vanity or the worldly standards that often dictate our self-perceptions and our goals. We have to prioritize our lives and our choices to honor God and make Him truly the Lord of our lives. He has given us a simple solution to our battles with food. Eat natural foods. Period. Eat God foods. “Just do the things” He has called us to do. And then we can truly call Him Lord.
Prayer: Lord, I am ready to “just do it” to “just do the things” You have called me to do. I am ready to truly call You Lord, my master. So often I lift my hands up and pray. Then I just let the demons of food surround me and way too often give into the temptations. Forgive me God for letting food become my Lord way too often. You have already told me what to do. And I believe You have given me the power to do it. Allow me to embrace that power, to use that power and to move forward with that power. We can do the things You have revealed to us. We can choose your natural foods with Your help. You are my Lord and I am going to prove it by choosing healthy foods today. Thank You for reminding me that I need to “just do it”.
