Verse Reflections: It is a hard truth: sometimes the consequences we face aren’t the result of God’s judgment or bad luck – they are the fruit of our own choices. We sabotage our own well-being. Why do we keep eating foods that have little to no nutritional value? Brownies, chocolate chip cookies, pasta, chips … and the list goes on. So, we pour these unhealthy foods into our bodies and then want God to heal us from our joint pain, knee pain, hip pain. We want God to heal us from our diabetes, heal our heart. We want God to change us, our health, our looks after we are the ones who created the monster. I said once before, you can’t put a car body on a tricycle and expect it not to bend. That is what we do when we put on excess weight. Our bones and joints are created for a tricycle and we just keep piling on car parts as we gain weight. Then we blame God for not healing us. Let’s change this dynamic. Let’s start blaming ourselves for our choices. Let’s just quit being stupid. I need to create a t-shirt or a bracelet with “Don’t eat stupid” on there. God has given us the power to eat right. This verse invites us to take ownership and to accept His empowerment. He has given us the delicious foods that will pour nutrition into our bodies. We have to wake up every day and choose not to ruin our lives. We have to wake up and quit blaming God because we made bad decisions. We are literally ruining our lives by our own choices. We keep on making the wrong choices and we blame God for not healing us. We blame God for our health. We blame God for our genetics, our metabolism, our lack of discipline, for the cravings that we are ourselves creating because we have chosen the wrong foods. Let’s use God’s power to live by His obvious wisdom and choose healthy foods.
Prayer: Father, protect me from ruining my own life. Protect me from my own stupidity. I know what foods to eat. You created the right foods for me to eat. You have given me the wisdom, the power and yet I choose to ignore the right choices. I am reaching out to You to grasp Your hand and ask for Your help. Forgive me for the times I have blamed You for the results of my own choices. Help me to take responsibility for my health and to honor You with my body. Give me the strength today to take one step toward health, wholeness and wisdom. Today I have to stop rationalizing every time I splurge. Every day, I can find a reason to wait until tomorrow to make wise choices. Today is the only day that will change my life. I know it. I will quit blaming You for my lack of success. I take the blame firmly on my shoulders and even as I do that I am begging You to give me the ability, Your power is my only option. We CAN do this. We CAN change our life starting today. Thank you for this verse that reminds me how ridiculous it is to live this way. Today we are going to quit ruining our lives and eat God foods. Thank You God for the power in this verse reminding me that I cannot blame You when I make the choices of the foods I pick up and put into my body.
